I just received an e-mail from a member of the TSof WA group (Francois) that his car was stolen, stripped and recoved the next day sometime during the first of this week. I haven't contacted him further on this so I don't know what is going to happen, if it's a total or if it's fixable. Will post more when I find out anything more. Watch out people, this seems to be an ongoing thing as of late, please be safe.

I just got done talking with him, it looks that he's going to let it go at this point, but is still thinking about buying it back, time will tell ($8000 in damage). It was taken by kids because of what was taken off the car, little stuff, no body parts, (I saw pictures of it). It's really sad, dumb thieves (this board won't let me type what I wanted to say). Anyway it looks that we're loosing another member at this time.
At the next meet, I'm going to talk about and show some things to help protect your car that don't cost anything or cost is very low. I have talked about it before (done them on my car), but goto talk a little louder about it this next time around.

Yes that is very sad what happened to his car. And dont worry, on the next message board, Ill get rid of all the parental controls so you can cuss to your hearts desire.
Anyways did he not have an alarm or what because that should be a good enough detterent. Next would be a club, and that fuel cutoff switch in the how tos but drivers wont remember to turn that on and off eveytime. I still think the best deterrent is that microchip built into the key. Wish the price on those would come down.
I talked to this guy at the local KFC i goto and he mentioned that he had a del sol and asked me where he could find new seats because some jackass stole his bucket seats and his bumper out of all things...

Alarms and clubs can be bypassed and won't stop a good theif. It's better than nothing though.
Geo: Do you know where this happened?

Well...um...do you happen to know where that is? LOL I only ask because I see Francois around in the same areas I'm in sometimes, and if extra precautions would be necessary.

The Tacoma/Lakewood area is notorious for car theft. I really dont think it matters what type of car you have. Just depends on what the theif has in mind that day.
